The Corrib Country – Famed in song, word and picture.
It is a unique location which for some is a cherished place to visit and for others is the little piece of Ireland that they are lucky enough to call home.
Recreation opportunities abound and people will treasure the Corrib Country as a place to fish, birdwatch, botanise, kayak, sail, walk or cycle. It is a popular destination for ‘Sunday Drives’ whilst for history lovers one cannot but turn the corner and find something interesting. Of particular significance is the wealth of holy wells which recognise and pay homage to a range of Holy Men and Women s from Tuam across to Moycullen.
The Corrib Catchment provides drinking water to well over 100,000 people. This is a life giving attribute of the lake and we should not forget this.
It is near impossible in a short paragraph to note all of the important aspects of the Corrib for our recreation and wellbeing but if you are familiar with the area, we do not need to tell you for you already know!
